Thanksgiving weekend 2004: A local hunter was fatally injured after dropping his firearm from a tree stand. A man who was known as a safe and ethical hunter left behind his wife, who was expecting their child, as well as his young son. Pain and suffering was felt throughout the community at the loss of this man - a local hunter that most knew as a friend and family man.

Shortly after the accident, a pair of hunters were discussing what had occurred in a local diner. The two men talked of an idea that could prevent this tragedy from happening again and that was the beginning of S&W Products, LLC, and the birth of the Gun Harness.

The creators knew there would have to be a change in the way people viewed firearm safety from a tree stand, and their concept was simple; keep a hunter from dropping the firearm from a tree stand by creating fall protection. Through numerous trials and years of hard work, the safety they wanted was achieved with the innovative Gun Harness.
